For more than a generation Long Island City Queens
has been home to many of New York City’s Taxi Fleets. The migration from
Manhattan to this riverside neighborhood began to take place as real
estate prices climbed in midtown and beyond and the price for large
warehouse spaces to park vehicles became prohibitive. This, combined with
the evolution of aging taxi fleet owners selling their appreciated
property or leasing it for more rent than their yellow cabs would pay,
